3D METAL SCULPTURE

I took art for A-level. It is a 2 year course. My main area of focus was on 3D sculpting using metal. My metal work evolves from a design process using a series of researched artists, pencil designs and previous work.

This work evolved from the work under Natural Sculpture. I did some pencil drawings to further its designs. The sculpture was done using metal sheet and metal rods and almost 1meter (2.2 feet high) welded using a gas welder. The total project time was over 2 weeks.

3D METAL SCULPTURE combining welded steel, wood and string

The inspiration for this piece started from Santiago Calatrava and his suspension bridge designs. Also the wooden centre piece was inspired from Louise Bourgeois expose in the Tate Modern in 2007.
